Design Thinking for social innovation with icecairo, fagnoon & Abusir community

We did not solve the waste problem in the village of Abusir. Nor did we fi1nd donors to pay for the cleansing of the contaminated canal. Instead this workshop kicked-off the 'cooking with Sabah' payed workshop sessions who bring expat women and Egyptian women at one table, co-designed marketing tools for small local businesses, prototyped panels with the CNC machine at icecairo's fablab, developed a dictionary in order to help 'university-smart entrepreneur' communicate to 'street-smart entrepreneur', showed kids how to make their own books and capture stories or taught them some first lessons about making biogas or recycling garbage. All of these was initiated by participants after watching closely, hearing focused and talking openly with end-user led by designerly way of thinking.
Some of the participants built up a Design Thinking community, give workshops themselves creating revenue for themselves and others whom they teach these tools, other went back to their institutions and infused the learned lessons in their daily work and
