Dan Hill - Dark Matter and Trojan Horses

Dan Hill (@cityofsound) is a British-born designer based in Helsinki, where he is Strategic Design Lead at Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund. A leading figure internationally in strategic design, Hill has previously worked at ARUP, the BBC and Monocle magazine, and regularly writes for design press worldwide, as well as his acclaimed architecture and urbanism website City of Sound.

How might we use design strategically, building better cities – and societies – by redesigning our cultures of decision-making? This presentation offers several concepts for an emerging vocabulary of strategic design; ways of thinking and acting equal to the complex challenges of reinventing urban systems.

This talk was delivered at the Melbourne office of global design & engineering firm ARUP in March 2012, as part of the Foresight + Innovation Talk (FIT) series convened by Stuart Candy (@futuryst).
