What a hard balance to strike right? Although I am an ethnographic researcher, I often think of Henry Ford's quote:

"If I would have asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses."

On the other hand, it is clear through the MANY failures of Edison, that if a product is not rooted in a core human need it WILL fail, or will fail to stick.
