Just saw your reply here :).
I came across service design through one of our assignments on strategic design futures. There I looked into scenario planning etc., which led to the experience economy, service design etc.; we employed a more SD based philosophy to tackle it and the more I read , I was really hooked!!
Thank You so much for the references. I will surely be looking into them. I just started ‘Service Marketing’ by lovelock, but I was a little confused whether it’s the same as ‘Service Design’
I really like my topic and right now and figuring the best suited methodology to tackle it. I was planning on doing a case study analysis of 3 service design consultancies based in UK. I hope it comes out fine!!
I am from India originally and this would be my first visit to Germany. My boyfriend’s invited me and I am in the process of sorting my visa for that. It would be my first visit there and I am pretty excited, though it’s a shame visa processing takes a while, coz I would have loved to come for the SD drinks!
I was looking at Australia and design there; and despite the market size, it’s so interesting that there is so little known about the industry there..I guess it’s the distance partly. Congratulations though. It really sounds exciting! It would be great to hear more about it.
Talk to you soon,
Thanks,
Megha
This is quite a co incidence! I was trying to trace your email id. David had suggested I get in touch with you via Carrie and Mary. And I opened my mailbox to see a mail from Carrie and one from you!! I have been looking forward to contact you. My supervisor is Tony so not many people knew I was doing my dissertation on Service design as well.
I am very excited about SD. Right now is a nail biting time coz I am setting up my framework for the thesis. Moreover I didn't take up the SD elective so since I’ve started out I have just been a voracious reader on the subject..but I really love it!
SD is a vast, new field with a lot of scope. I was just reading some of Prof. Brigit Mager work and was wishing I could have a talk with her.
Initially I was very interested in the methodologies adapted by Product designers and how they evolve into the core competencies of Service design (to what extent SD could be differentiated as a field from product and interface design). But now I am feeling more interested in how SD can be developed within organizations to create measurable value, while also looking at the notions of ‘silent design’ etc.
I feel I need quite some good tightening in the framework though.
I was planning to come to Germany sometime in June. But either ways, looking forward to hearing from you!
Regards,
Megha
