Event Description

Revisiting CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) from different perspectives:

  • Communications & Social media: how to promote sustainable behaviors and leverage ideas from the crowd?
  • Design: social responsibility as a natural outcome of design thinking?, How do we design for sustainability?
  • Entrepreneurship: social entrepreneurship in the western world and/or in developing countries alike...
  • Innovation: how to build sustainability into new products/services from the outset, not as an afterthought?
  • The Economy: how green/sustainable is the green economy? And how do CSR and other practices coexist/compete?

And there's certainly a lot more to be explored...  (ideas welcome)

CSR has moved beyond its initial, rather restricted locus, into all aspects of business.  Therefore, the time is ripe for a new conversation on social responsibility.  We would like to have this conversation, with broad participation, before the end of the year.  The way we suggest to work towards this, is to build a small hosting team that would convene rapidly to start co-creating the event.  From there, we can grow gradually towards a wider invitation.  The intent is NOT to organize a traditional conference with keynote speakers, rather to facilitate a meaningful conversation between all participants using Open Space, World Café, and similar techniques. 

So, if you feel called, you are kindly invited to join the hosting team's first meeting.  We will convene on Thursday, June 16, to start cocreating this event.  The session will start at 1 PM with a light lunch at the betagroup's coworking space (Brussels), allowing all of us to get to know each other informally before we start working on the subject.

@andrep0 @kristinatool - This meeting is mostly to confirm the participants' interest and get a core team together.  The intent is to nurture a broader conversation on the subject, towards the end of this year.  I don't think that the 1st meeting is suitable for virtual participation, although we may tweet a bit, but we will make the minutes available, and based on that we will welcome wider participation... - @cdn
